Baildon House Extension Completed
Posted 20th February 2015
We have recently completed a extension to a house in Baildon, north of Bradford in West Yorkshire.
The impressive family home was built at the end of the 19th century in an area of Baildon which was popular amongst the wealthy Bradford mill owning fraternity. The house is set in a large plot of land backing onto what was a large wooded area of Baildon, just above neighbouring Woodlands, a similar substantial detached mill owner’s house. The property is set on a hillside overlooking the River Aire and the adjacent Leeds and Liverpool canal in the valley below. The house itself is in a particularly flamboyant style of architecture, with Queen Anne gables a prominent feature to the complex of steeply pitched slate roof slopes. As beautiful as the house is, as with other houses of a similar period, the internal layout was not conducive to modern day open plan living, with kitchen quarters being located away from the heart of the house with little or no connection to the garden.
Our proposal provided a large ground floor open plan kitchen and dining space that has been designed to make a strong connection to the garden and landscape beyond.
We hope that our clients will soon be able to enjoy their new kitchen and garden as the weather slowly but surely starts to warm up.
We will post more details of the completed project on our website soon...
